Today, Undersecretary Giorgio Silli met with the Honduran Minister of Investment, Miguel Medina, at the Farnesina on the sidelines of the "Investment Climate in Honduras" Conference, organised by the Italo-Latin American International Organisation (IILA) in cooperation with the Embassy of Honduras in Italy and the National Investment Council of Honduras.
During the meeting, the excellent bilateral relations were emphasised, which could gain further momentum from the establishment of a Political Dialogue Mechanism.
Minister Medina outlined to Undersecretary Silli the investment opportunities available in Honduras for Italian companies. In response, Undersecretary Silli requested that the Honduran government share additional information on the opportunities Honduras offers and on the legal investment guarantee mechanisms in place. He also expressed the hope that Tegucigalpa could take advantage of the EU's Global Gateway Investment Agenda, which significantly broadens the potential synergies between the country, Europe, Italy, and the Italian and European business community.
"Today, I was able to see firsthand," remarked Undersecretary Silli, "the priority given by the Honduran government to foreign investment attraction policies as a means to ensure stable and balanced economic growth. I equally noted the expectation that the Italian business sector will look to the Honduran market as well, to explore potential investment opportunities and contribute to the country's growth."
