The annual Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by Subject ranks the best universities in the world in a variety of disciplines.
The criteria used in the subject ranking include teaching, research quality, research environment and international outlook. Nine disciplines of the University of Turku were listed in the latest ranking.
The results of the ranking reveal that the University of Turku did particularly well in the subject ranking for psychology where the University was listed among the world's 200 best universities and the third best university in Finland. In the clinical and health subject ranking, the improvement in ranking from last year meant that the University is now among the world's top 250 universities in this field and the second best among the Finnish universities.
In addition, the University of Turku improved its position in the subject ranking for arts and humanities, where the University was listed among the top 300 universities in the world and fourth best among the participating Finnish universities. In addition, the ranking of physical sciences improved so that the University of Turku now ranks among the world's 600 best universities and is in the fifth best among the participating Finnish universities.
The University of Turku also fared very well in the evaluation of other disciplines, where the global rankings remained at last year's level.
