Phillips Elected to State Association Board

(Austin) - The Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Board of Directors has elected Quinton Phillips of Fort Worth ISD to an interim position on the TASB Board, representing TASB Region 11, Position B.

Phillips is first vice-president of the Fort Worth ISD Board of Education. A native of Fort Worth, he joined the board in 2019.

He has served as a Steering Committee and Advisory Council member for the district's Paul Laurence Dunbar Young Men's Leadership Academy. Currently, he serves as a member of the Race Equity Committee and the Race Equity Task Force for the Early Learning Alliance. He also has served as member of the Citizen's Oversight Committee.

Phillips is a professor in the Criminal Justice Department of Texas Christian University. He has spent over a decade helping to facilitate a cultural diversity and leadership camp for high school students and has now served the Multicultural Alliance for two decades. He was a juvenile probation officer for nearly 10 years. He also served as a program coordinator with "Da" Village Education Center and a behavioral interventionist with Lena Pope Home Inc.

In addition, he is a board member for the Minority Leaders and Citizens Council (MLCC), an alumni of Leadership ISD, and a founding partner of Community Frontline.

He earned a bachelor's degree in social work from Prairie View A&M University. He is also a graduate of Palmer Theological Seminary at Eastern University where he received a master's in theological studies.

TASB is a nonprofit association established in 1949 to serve local Texas school boards. School board members are the largest group of publicly elected officials in the state.
