Rawlins Library: April Programming

Rawlins Library has all your library basics plus a few extras this April.

ADULT BOOK CLUB (Tuesdays)

April 4, 11, 18 & 25 at 6 p.m.

Those 18 and up are invited to join the Rawlins Library Book Club. The club's April book is Trevor Noah's Born a Crime. To reserve a book or join the club, email [email protected], call 605.773.7421, or sign up in person. Water and coffee are provided.

STORY TIME (Wednesdays)

April 5, 12, 19, & 26 at 10 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 1 p.m., and 1:30 p.m.

Kids ages 0 through pre-kindergarten are invited to Rawlins Library to hear a story and do a craft during any of the four sessions held on Wednesdays.

NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK

April 23-29

Take the time to explore all the library has to offer during National Library Week with Shelf Sunday, Magazine Monday, Tech Tuesday, Wacky Wednesday, Try Something New Thursday, Fiction Friday and SciFi Saturday. Each day features something different the library provides from magazines and books to technology assistance and story time.

EASTER PROGRAM

Saturday, April 1, 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Meet the Easter Bunny, take a family photo, make a bunny basket, and see live bunnies. The program is free and open to the public.

MONDAY FUN DAY

Monday, April 10 at 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Rawlins Library will have a variety of family-friendly games stations, legos, puppets and more throughout the library. Stop in and cap off the holiday weekend with Monday Fun Day at the library.

WEBB TELESCOPE PROGRAM

Tuesday, April 11 at 1 p.m.

Join Craig DeTample with the South Dakota Discovery Center to learn about the Webb telescope and how it's helping us see the universe in a new and powerful way. The program is free and open to the public. No registration required.

DROP EVERYTHING AND READ DAY

April 12

In celebration of author Beverly Cleary's birthday, April 12 is "Drop Everything and Read Day". Recognize the annual event by dropping in Rawlins Library, perusing our book displays, and finding something awesome to read.

ABRAHAM LINCOLN AUTHOR TALK

April 13, 7 p.m.

In partnership with the South Dakota Historical Society, Rawlins Library will host a virtual historical author talk about Abraham Lincoln via Zoom. Join friends at the library for the talk or join from the comfort of your own home. For more details, contact Rawlins Library.

BEAUTIFUL LANDSCAPING ON THE CHEAP

Friday, April 14 at 1 p.m.

Willing to put in the sweat equity but not the equity? Rawlins Library can help! Join staff from East Pierre Landscape & Garden Center to learn how to improve the appearance of your yard without breaking the bank. No registration is necessary. The program is free and open to the public.

MONEYSMART WEEK

April 15 - 21

Need some basic help being smart with your money? Rawlins Library has resources to help you bone up on being moneywise. You'll find hardcopy books, ebooks, and free online, on-demand classes through the library. For details, stop at Rawlins between April 15 and April 21.

EARTH DAY

Need some inspiration for Earth Day activities? Rawlins Library has a variety of environmental books chocked full of ideas for taking care of the environment. Stop in on Earth Day to check out the book display and find a small activity for kids.
