Kevin Peters leads tipi painting at Nez Perce NHP

LAPWAI, Idaho--The large canvas tipi that is set up throughout the summer in front of the visitor center at the Nez Perce National Historical Park will be painted by visitors in a three-day event starting August 1-3, 2022.
Tribal member, Kevin Peters will assist visitors in painting a design onto the large canvas tipi. Painting will take placed on the back patio of the visitor center starting at 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 1-August 3, 2022. Once completed, the tipi will replace the current plain white tipi on the center lawn.
Kevin Peters is a former Interpretive Ranger at Nez Perce National Historical Park and well-known artist. While working at the park, Peters created the wooden canoe surround in the lobby, designed the park's Pendleton blanket as well as the park's Junior Ranger patch, not to mention many more items throughout his ranger career.
Nez Perce National Historical Park's Spalding Visitor Center is located 12 miles east of Lewiston at 39063 U.S. Highway 95. Park admission is free year round.
