DG Employee Wins National Award for Mental Health Advocacy Efforts

This Mental Health Awareness Month, the Company is spotlighting how its mission ofServing Others is reflected throughout its employee culture and investments in DG employees' mental health.
Matt D. | Building Bridges for Brianna
In 2020, Matt D., senior analyst of asset protection at Dollar General, founded non-profit organization Building Bridges for Brianna in York County, Pennsylvania in response to the grief of losing his 15-year-old daughter Brianna to suicide. For its efforts to equip individuals with essential mental health resources and promote suicide prevention, the organization was recently honored with a 2024 Jefferson Award by Multiplying Good.
"It takes a strong community foundation to build a bridge for mental health," shared Matt. "The purpose of the organization is to promote suicide prevention awareness, fund programs and support those in need dealing with mental health issues. It's ok to not be ok. But our focus is to help those in need to move forward to become ok again."
To honor Matt's inspiring embodiment of Serving Others, DG Kindness awarded $1,000 to support Building Bridges for Brianna.
