President Steenkamp: Growing success at the Farm at RRU

This week, I had the pleasure of getting my hands dirty and witnessing the transformation of what was once lawn to a flourishing garden in the Farm at Royal Roads University. Over the past three years, the Farm at RRU has blossomed into a hub of sustainability, yielding thousands of pounds of fresh produce to nourish our students and local community alike.

In my latest video, I catch up with Solara Goldwynn, food systems lead, in the Giving Garden. She shares insights into the Farm's growth and exciting plans for the future. We talk about both the Market Garden and Indigenous Medicine Garden, discussing how each area contributes to our shared goals. Solara also highlights ways in which we can all pitch in and support this thriving initiative.

If you're interested in learning how you can grow your own food at home, Solara is hosting a free workshop Saturday, May 18. Stay tuned for more throughout the summer. You can also volunteer in the garden or make a donation through our ongoing Vision in Bloom campaign. Find out more about all these opportunities on our Vision in Bloom web page.

My great thanks to the very many hands and donors who have contributed to the growth of this space, including TD Bank Group's seed gift that helped us get growing. You can meet a few of these supporters on our Farm at RRU webpage.
