Chairman Meeks Announces May HFAC Schedule

Washington, D.C. - Today, Representative Gregory W. Meeks, Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, announced the following schedule for the month of May.

Events that are not closed to the public will be accessible via the Committee's website and YouTube page. All Committee events are subject to change at any time due to unforeseen circumstances.

  • May 4 at 1:00 p.m., ET: The Committee will convene for a virtual hearing entitled, 'The Unfolding Crisis in Burma.'
  • May 5 at 11:00 a.m., ET: The Subcommittee on Europe, Energy, the Environment and Cyber will convene for a virtual hearing entitled, 'Reaffirming the Good Friday Agreement.'
  • May 5 at 3:00 p.m., ET: The Subcommittee on International Development, International Organizations, and Global Corporate Social Impact, along with the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Strategic Forces will convene for a joint, virtual hearing entitled, 'Creating a Framework for Rules Based Order in Space.'
  • May 6 at 12:30 p.m., ET: The Committee will convene for a virtual hearing entitled, 'The Atrocities Against Uyghurs and Other Minorities in Xinjiang.'
  • May 10 at 3:00 p.m., ET: The Committee will convene for a briefing on COVID-19 Assistance and Diplomacy. Closed to the public.
  • May 12 at 10:00 a.m., ET: The Committee will convene for a hybrid hearing entitled, 'Driving a Global, Whole-of-Society Response to Climate Action.'

  • May 13 at 2:00 p.m., ET: The Subcommittee on Western Hemisphere, Civilian Security, Migration and International Economic Policy will convene for a hybrid hearing entitled, 'A Race Against Time: Deploying Vaccines and Addressing the Disproportionate Impacts of COVID-19 in Latin America and the Caribbean.'
  • May 14 at 10:00 a.m., ET: The Committee will convene for a briefing on the Origins of COVID-19. Closed to the public.
  • May 19 at 10:00 a.m., ET: The Committee will convene for a hybrid markup of various measures.
  • May 20 at 10:00 a.m., ET: The Subcommittee on Africa, Global Health and Global Human Rights will convene for a hybrid hearing entitled, 'Impact of Sanctions in Africa.'
  • May 25 at 12:30 p.m., ET: In celebration of Africa Day, the Committee will convene for a roundtable entitled 'Celebrating African Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Leadership.'
  • May 26 at 1:00 p.m., ET: The Committee will convene for a virtual hearing entitled, 'The State Department's Foreign Policy Strategy and FY22 Budget Request.'
  • May 27 at 1:00 p.m., ET: The Subcommittee on Europe, Energy, the Environment and Cyber will convene for a virtual hearing entitled, 'Understanding Authoritarianism and Kleptocracy in Russia.'
  • May 28 at 1:00 p.m., ET: The Subcommittee on Asia, the Pacific, Central Asia and Nonproliferation will convene for a virtual hearing entitled, 'Democratic Values in the Indo-Pacific in an Era of Strategic Competition.'
