Las Cruces City Clerk Named to Municipal Clerks Honor Roll

The City of Las Cruces is proud to announce that Christine Rivera, City Clerk, has been named to the 2024 Municipal Clerks Honor Roll. The Municipal Clerks Honor Roll is a special recognition program from General Code since 2001. It gives municipal officials, private citizens, and other colleagues the opportunity to acknowledge and pay tribute to the municipal clerks who give so much to their communities every day.

Rivera was appointed as Clerk in October of 2019, and has worked in the Clerk's office in different capacities for more than 13 years. She is a Certified Municipal Clerk, whose daily duties include: Overseeing the Clerk's Office; Managing the City Council Meetings and the Boards and Committees Applications Process; Overseeing the Inspection of Public Records Act requests; Ensuring compliance with the Open Meetings Act, Being Records Custodian for the City; and Working with each City department to facilitate information to City Council Members.

The Honor Roll program originally ran from 2001 to 2010. In 2019 it was reintroduced to coincide with the 50th Anniversary of Municipal Clerks Week. Rivera is one of 311 municipal clerks who made this year's list from 38 states. Rivera received eleven nominations for this honor.
