NU Alum Returns to Monteagle Ridge for Seminar Series

Dr. Steven Lewis, '12, a former Niagara University biochemistry major and current postdoctoral researcher at the University at Buffalo's Department of Pathology and Anatomical Sciences, returned to his alma mater to present several lectures as part of NU's biomedical research laboratory seminar series.

The talks, which were attended by students from the departments of chemistry and biochemistry, biology, and computer and information sciences, focused on artificial intelligence as it relates to several areas of scientific research. Dr. Lewis discussed unsupervised and supervised machine learning and concluded with a lecture on advanced artificial intelligence in science.

Dr. Lewis currently studies the use of artificial intelligence on digital pathology images to improve the diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of oral cavity cancer and thyroid cancer.
