Below is this week's congressional update by BakerHostetler's Federal Policy team. We'll continue to post in weeks when both chambers of Congress are in session.

HEADLINES

  • President Joe Biden's cabinet will continue to discuss his fiscal year 2025 budget request during numerous congressional appearances this week.
  • Biden will attend campaign events in Delaware and the District of Columbia, and he will award the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
  • BakerHostetler's 35th Annual Legislative Seminar is in 10 days. Join us!

HOUSE

  • The House will be in session tonight through Wednesday.
  • Budget hearings continue, including appearances by Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, and Labor Secretary Julie Su.
  • The Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Indo-Pacific on Wednesday will hold a hearing on U.S.-Taiwan relations.

SENATE

  • The Senate will be in session Tuesday through Thursday, beginning consideration of legislation to reauthorize the Federal Aviation Administration.
  • Senate budget hearings include Transportation Secretary Buttigieg, Interior Secretary Deb Haaland, and Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Michael Regan.
  • The Finance Committee on Wednesday will hold a hearing on health cybersecurity and the recent attack on Change Healthcare, with UnitedHealth Group CEO Andrew Witty.

WHITE HOUSE

  • Tomorrow, Biden will head to Wilmington, Delaware, for a campaign event.
  • Wednesday, he will have a campaign reception here in Washington.
  • Friday, he will present the Presidential Medal of Freedom; recipients are not yet known.
