Bucharest Leaders Summit: Enduring Power of Solidarity, formally opened at Victoria Palace

The Romanian Government hosted today the formal opening of the series of conferences: Protecting Europe in Turbulent Times. Bucharest Leaders Summit: Enduring Power of Solidarity, organized by MediaUno Press Group, in partnership with the National Institute of Statistics, with the support of the Department of Sustainable Development.

Prime Minister Nicolae -Ionel Ciucă sent a video message in the opening of the conference, on which occasion, he underscored: "The war sufferings drew near Romania's borders more than anyone would have wished. Romania is an example of solidarity, recognized by Western partners, due to the special involvement of civil society in support of refugees of Ukraine. I am sure that only through such an attitude, can we build a better society. Solidarity should not be limited to present, we should prove solidarity with future generations as well. All difficulties we are presently going through, will strengthen us as nation, as well as the European family we are part of, only if we stay cohesive and dedicated to the principles of humanity, freedom and sustainability".

State Advisor László Borbély, Coordinator of the Department of Sustainable Development of the Romanian Government, spoke about development opportunities and the need to strengthen leadership:

"As a host, I want to say that I am delighted with the large number of speakers who accepted the invitation and the fact that all the structures of the society were represented at the highest level today here. Especially in these turbulent times, it is extremely important that Romania's leadership sits at the discussion table and, patiently, makes the decisions we need for sustainable development. The Department of Sustainable Development is a catalyst and we always join the initiatives that aim to provide that space for dialogue that our society so desperately needs. As we have shown in terms of sustainable development that we can be a regional hub recognized by the international community, Romania has the capabilities and opportunities to become a regional leader in many areas, as the speakers' speeches pointed out.
