Davao Oriental Posts the Fastest Growth in Davao Region in 2022 at 12.3 Percent; City of Davao Accounts for More Than Half of the Industry and Services of the Region

Davao Oriental posted the fastest economic growth of 12.3 percent in 2022. It was followed by City of Davao with a growth rate of 8.9 percent. Meanwhile, Davao del Sur, Davao Occidental, Davao del Norte, and Davao de Oro recorded economic growths slower than the regional growth rate of 8.1 percent. (Figure 1)

Among the five provinces and one Highly Urbanized City (HUC) in Davao Region, City of Davao accounted for more than half of the region's PhP 954.07 billion value of GDP in 2022. Davao del Norte and Davao del Sur followed with 17.7 percent and 10.9 percent shares, respectively. (Figure 2)

Davao del Norte accounted for 34.8 percent of the region's total value of Agriculture, forestry and fishing in 2022. Meanwhile, Davao de Oro and Davao del Sur ranked second and third with 18.8 percent and 16.5 percent shares, respectively. (Table 1)

Of the PhP 236.56 billion total Industry of Davao Region, City of Davao accounted for more than half or 52.5 percent. Meanwhile, Davao del Norte and Davao del Sur accounted for 14.2 percent and 14.0 percent, respectively. (Table 1)

City of Davao also accounted for 61.0 percent of the region's total value of Services. Davao del Norte and Davao del Sur also ranked second and third in terms of share to Services at 14.7 percent and 8.2 percent, respectively. (Table 1)

In 2023, the Provincial Product Accounts (PPA) compilation covers 82 provinces and 17 HUCs across 16 regions in the country. The results covering the period 2018 to 2022 were consistent with the annual regional accounts released on 27 April 2023.
