Dentons launches the positive impact committee for the coordination and development of CSR activities in Italy

June 15, 2021

Milan-Global law firm Dentons has launched the Positive Impact Committee in Italy to develop and oversee its corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities in a more structured way and to align CSR initiatives in Milan and Rome to the Europe-wide strategy. The Committee is composed of partner Ilaria Gobbato for initiatives related to diversity and women's advancement, counsel Lisa Alice Julien for pro-bono activities, MariaSole Insinga for charitable giving and Federico Vanetti for green initiatives.

Making a positive contribution to the communities in which Dentons operates is an integral part of its strategy. Last November Dentons Europe LLP joined the United Nations Global Compact, committing to align its strategy and organization with the UN's ten principles to promote a sustainable and inclusive global economy.

As part of the Firm's wider commitment to pro bono work, as a first action of the new committee, Dentons has signed an agreement to provide free legal assistance to Make-A-Wish Italia Onlus, whose mission is to fulfill the wishes of children between 3 and 17 years of age suffering from serious diseases. In addition, the Firm renewed the pro bono legal agreement with Progetto Itaca Onlus, a NGO, which promotes information, prevention, support and rehabilitation programs for people with mental health disorders and their families.

With regard to environmental sustainability, for several years Dentons has implemented a green protocol to improve the ecological impact of offices through energy saving, recycling, reduction of plastic, and reduction of food and paper waste.

Fostering an inclusive working environment, with full respect for diversity, is a key part of Dentons' strategy, from ensuring equal opportunity for career advancement to establishing teams that reflect the diversity of our clients. The Committee will promote initiatives to encourage women in leadership and raise awareness of the issue among clients and the community.

Concerning charitable initiatives, Dentons has been supporting Fondazione Umberto Veronesi's 'Pink is good' campaign for several years to help raise money for the prevention and treatment of breast cancer. In addition, Dentons has recently started to donate to non-profit organizations committed to meeting the demand for food, which has increased due the financial hardships brought about by the COVID-19 health emergency.
