City approves contract for residential street repaving

Funding to begin Phase 2 of the City of Huntsville's residential street repaving plan for fiscal year 2023 was approved by City Council on March 23. The $5.1 million contract went to low bidder Wiregrass Construction Company. The contract includes 51 neighborhood streets and work must be completed within the next 10 months.

Mayor Tommy Battle's budget includes about $19.5 million on street improvements this fiscal year - the most money ever allocated for residential resurfacing. Phase 1 covered funding to resurface 108 residential streets.
