Marissa Sur Appointed as Director of Human Resources for the City of Huntington Beach

Marissa Sur has been selected as the Director of Human Resources for the City of Huntington Beach. In her role, she will be responsible for directing, planning, organizing, and managing the personnel functions and programs of the City. While in her new role, she will be overseeing a large number of programs and services, including Employee Relations, Labor Negotiations, Recruitment and Selection, Classification and Compensation, Training, Benefits, Risk Management, Self-insured programs in Liability and Workers Compensation, as well as the Loss Prevention Program.

Marissa joins the City of Huntington Beach after serving most recently as the Human Resources Manager for the City of Newport Beach. While with the City of Newport Beach, she was responsible for providing advice and general guidance to staff on all personnel matters. Further, she provided valuable insights and leadership on the interpretation of policies, memorandums of understanding, disciplinary items, the development and monitoring of the department budget, and oversight of various programs, including the City's general liability, workers compensation, and safety.

Marissa obtained her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from California State University, Long Beach. Amongst her many skills, she prides herself on her ability to provide excellent customer service regardless of the situation, exhibiting excellent emotional intelligence. Marissa looks forward to being part of the City's leadership team providing support to the City's most important asset, City Staff, as they continue to provide services to the Huntington Beach community.
