Koba Gvenetadze Presents Book of State Bank of Georgia to Niko Lortkipanidze House Museum

30 January, 2023

Koba Gvenetadze, Governor of the National Bank of Georgia, visited the house-museum of the famous Georgian writer, Niko Lortkipanidze, in the village of Chuneshi, Tskaltubo, Imereti Region. A book/album published by the National Bank of Georgia about the State Bank of Georgia, whose founder and first manager, Jason Lortkipanidze, was the elder brother of Niko Lortkipanidze, was presented to the house-museum as a gift.

Governor Gvenetadze was pleased to visit the public school of the village of Chuneshi, where Jason Lortkipanidze studied, bringing along the book of the State Bank and financial education literature. Koba Gvenetadze was eager to meet with the school students and deliver a special lecture for them.

"We are thrilled to have visited the village of Chuneshi in Tskaltubo, the birthplace of Jason Lortkipanidze, the founder and first manager of the State Bank. We presented the house-museum and school with a book/album published by the National Bank of Georgia, telling the story of the establishment of the Central Bank of independent Georgia and the life achievements of Jason Lortkipanidze, its first manager. Jason Lortkipanidze's impact is exceptional on the establishment of the Central Bank and on many other national affairs. Jason Lortkipanidze was a signatory to the Act of Independence of Georgia, a member of the founding committee of the University and led the organization promoting literacy across Georgia. It may be a novelty for many people that it was thanks to the leadership of Jason Lortkipanidze that the grave of Nikoloz Baratashvili was detected in Ganja and transferred to his homeland. I am glad to let you know that recently, as part of the social responsibility of the National Bank of Georgia, we digitized the handwriting of Iason Lortkipanidze, and in cooperation with the calligrapher David Maisuradze, created a unique font, now available on our website", said Koba Gvenetadze.

During his visit to Imereti, leader of the central bank of Georgia also visited the public school of his native village of Zeda Simoneti, and handed over educational materials on financial education.
