L. Claudia Allen Senior Center Named PSC Helping Hand

TALLAHASSEE - The Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) is pleased to name the L. Claudia Allen Senior Center as a PSC Helping Hand for its assistance during National Consumer Protection Week (NCPW) in March. The Center was instrumental in helping the PSC raise awareness about energy and water conservation, utility-related scams, and the Lifeline Assistance telephone/broadband discount program.

"We appreciate L. Claudia Allen's support to host the PSC's outreach team and share our information with its clientele," said PSC Chairman Mike La Rosa. "Partnering with local senior and community centers helps us reach those Floridians who will best benefit from our information."

Through PSC Helping Hand partnerships, the Commission shares information with consumers to help them avoid scams and stretch their resources to better meet monthly bills. The PSC is also able to provide our "Where to Find Help in Florida" publication, a resource on many social service programs, as well as our children's activity book, "Get Wise and Conserve, Florida!"

"We are pleased to be named a PSC Helping Hand partner," said Site Coordinator Dominique Edwards. "Our seniors enjoyed receiving the information during the educational forum, and we look forward to continuing our partnership with the PSC."

The PSC regularly distributes materials to reach those who can benefit from information on hurricane preparedness, scam protections, and energy and water conservation. Look for all the PSC Helping Hand outreach partner recognitions on the PSC's website, www.FloridaPSC.com, under Consumer Information/Consumer Portal.
