Fortunately, no one of Astana Pro Team riders was involved in the crash. Thus, for the Kazakh team this day became quite calm and safe.
- Indeed, it was quite short and calm day for us. Exactly, what everyone needed after a rest day to come back into the race. We did our best to hold Miguel Angel Lopez out of troubles and it worked perfectly. There was a big crash in the final, but our riders could avoid it, - said Alexandr Shefer, sports director of Astana Pro Team.
The stage did not impact the general classification of the Giro d'Italia, still led by the Italian Valerio Conti.
Stage 11 of the race will be held tomorrow: it will be a 221-km-long stage from Carpi to Novi Ligure.
