Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison and Kirkland & Ellis were the top mergers and acquisitions (M&A) legal advisers in the construction sector during the first quarter (Q1) of 2024 by value and volume, respectively, according to the latest legal advisers league table by GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.
An analysis of GlobalData's Deals Database reveals that Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison achieved its leading position in terms of value by advising on $9.8 billion worth of deals. Meanwhile, Kirkland & Ellis led in terms of volume by advising on a total of eight deals.
Aurojyoti Bose, Lead Analyst at GlobalData, comments: "Kirkland & Ellis witnessed improvement in the number of deals advised by it as well as its ranking by deals volume in Q1 2024 compared to Q1 2023. It's ranking in terms of deals volume improved from second position in Q1 2023 to the top position in Q1 2024.
"Meanwhile, Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, which led by value in Q1 2024, was just shy of hitting the $10 billion mark. Apart from leading by value, it also occupied the sixth position by volume during the quarter."
Davis Polk & Wardwell occupied the second position in terms of value, by advising on $7.4 billion worth of deals, followed by Simpson Thacher & Bartlett with $6.6 billion, Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz with $6 billion, and Cravath Swaine & Moore with $5.2 billion.
Meanwhile, Latham & Watkins occupied the second position in terms of volume with six deals, followed by Davis Polk & Wardwell with five deals, White & Case with four deals, and CMS with four deals.
