La Izquierda Surf and Music Festival, Cinco de Mayo Fiesta return this weekend

Two exciting events are coming up this weekend on the island: La Izquierda Surf and Music Festival and Cinco de Mayo Fiesta.

La Izquierda Surf and Music Festival begins this Friday, May 3, and runs through the weekend at Beach Central near the corner of 22nd Street and Seawall Blvd. The surf and music festival has grown over recent years in a multi-day event with an anticipated 4,000 attendees.

The festival features various bands, a surf competition, food, and drinks, as well as local vendors. There is a small road closure associated with the event on 22nd Street between Avenue P and the Seawall beginning Friday at noon and continuing through Sunday at 11:59 p.m. Please follow the detour signs. LULAC Council 151's annual Cinco de Mayo Fiesta returns this Saturday, May 4 in the Galveston County Courthouse Plaza, 722 21st Street. This festival will have live music, a petting zoo, dancing, and food vendors. There will be a closure on Ball Street between 20th and 21st from Friday at 5 p.m. to Saturday at 10 p.m.
