In the 2018 CIP Bond Election, the citizens of Rowlett approved the reconstruction and widening of Miller Road from Dalrock Road to west of Chiesa Road. This project includes expanding Miller Road to a four-lane divided concrete roadway, with new sidewalks, street lighting, a new water main, underground drainage facilities, and a new traffic signal.
Progress
The City team is cognizant of the impact of the roadworks and In an effort to provide a safe and drivable travel way during construction, the City has repaired the worst potholes and rough spots on Miller Road in advance of the contractor moving in to begin paving operations. Once the contractor has setup paving operations, they will maintain the bypass roadway so that it is passable while the new lanes are under construction. Once the new lanes are built, traffic will be moved to those lanes while the contractor removes and rebuilds the old asphalt roadway.
The project is anticipated to be complete by December 2023, which is consistent with the original contract completion date.
