WASHINGTON - Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) accepted the American Fraternal Alliance's first-ever "Fraternal Ally Award" for his work to support fraternal benefit societies. Grassley is a senior member and former chairman of the Senate Finance Committee.
"Fraternal benefit societies are deeply rooted in the fabric of our nation. For centuries, they've made an impact by living out their core principles of membership, community and volunteerism. I'm glad to offer my continued support to this vital part of the financial sector and honored to accept this award," Grassley said.
"We are honored to present Senator Grassley with our first-ever "Fraternal Ally" award for his steadfast support of our sector," Allison Koppel, CEO of the American Fraternal Alliance, said. "Senator Grassley's continued support allows fraternal benefit societies to continue enriching our communities, while providing financial protection for families in need."

Grassley in 1982 championed legislation to allow tax-deductible donations to fraternal organizations. This Congress, Grassley cosponsored a resolution acknowledging fraternal benefit societies for their work to provide critical benefits to people and communities across America.
