Möller was faster than Sancho

Andreas Möller scored the quickest Champions League goal in the club's history on 13 September 1995. On Wednesday, a very early and the latest BVB goal in Europe's premiere competition decided the tie with PSV Eindhoven. Here are the match facts:

Fastest goal: In their first Champions League match ever, BVB took an early lead on 13.09.1995 thanks to Andreas Möller's opener against Juventus (final score 1-3). Jadon Sancho scored against Eindhoven after 2:58 minutes.

Latest goal: There were 94:30 minutes on the clock when Marco Reus made it 2-0 against PSV. Felipe Santana's goal against Malaga 3-2 in April 2013 came in the third minute of injury time.

Seven in seven: In his last seven Champions League home games for Borussia Dortmund, Jadon Sancho has scored four goals and provided three assists.

Record breakers: Mats Hummels, 35, and Marco Reus, 34, took to the pitch for their 86th appearance in Europe for BVB, replacing the previous most-capped player, Stefan Reuter. Hummels made his first appearance on 18 September 2008 in a 2-0 defeat against Udinese. He also played 24 more matches in the Bayern Munich jersey. Reus made his debut on 18 September 2012 in a 1-0 win over Ajax, and has played all of his 86 European club matches in Black & Yellow, scoring 33 goals, including 24 in the UEFA Champions League.

Head coach record: Borussia Dortmund have reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League and the European Cup for the tenth time. Three coaches have managed the feat twice: Ottmar Hitzfeld 1995/96 and 1996/97, Jürgen Klopp 2012/13 and 2013/14 and now Edin Terzic, who achieved this in 2021 and now in 2024.

Shot-stopper: Gregor Kobel saved all seven shots on his goal.

Statistics: Eindhoven pressed for the equaliser after the sides changed ends. They had 12 shots to the hosts' five in the second half, and finished with more shots overall (17-15). BVB had 52 percent possession of the ball - after 30 minutes, that figure stood at 70 percent. (br)
