Nick LaLota Set to Raise Monthly Internet Costs for 14,337 NY-01 Households

Tomorrow, full funding for the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) will expire, forcing 1.7 million New York families to face stark price hikes on their monthly internet bills.

The ACP - a product of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law - serves over 14,337 NY-01 households, providing discounts for monthly internet bills.

A recent survey conducted by the FCC found that more than two-thirds of beneficiaries to the ACP said they had inconsistent or no internet service prior to the program's existence.

Meanwhile, a majority of House Republicans - including Nick LaLota - have called for this program to sunset through his membership in the Republican Study Committee, whose budget calls for the end of the program.

While House Republicans like LaLota continue to cave to the demands of Donald Trump and Marjorie Taylor Greene, House Democrats have introduced common sense legislation to replenish the fund to keep monthly bills low for millions of Americans who rely on access to affordable internet. LaLota has shamelessly tried to mislead voters by half-heartedly signing onto the bill and refusing to disavow his previous efforts to end the program.

DCCC Spokesperson Ellie Dougherty:
"Nick LaLota is once again rubber-stamping the extreme Republican agenda by refusing to lift a finger to lower internet costs for Suffolk County families. That says everything you need to know about his 'priorities.'"
