COSMOTE: For the first time, incredible speeds of up to 10Gbps on the COSMOTE Fiber network

-Pilot project in Halandri, Marousi, Neo Psychiko, Paleo Psychiko, Filothei, Holargos and Papagou
-Continuous expansion of the FTTH network throughout Greece

For the first time, COSMOTE is bringing unbelievable speeds of up to10Gbps on the COSMOTE Fiber network, implementing a pilot project in areas of Attica, including Halandri, Marousi, Neo Psychiko, Paleo Psychiko, Filothei, Holargos and Papagou. This project is further proof that OTE Group is investing intensively, not just in the expansion, but also in the continuous upgrading of COSMOTE Fiber, the largest fiber optic network in the country, with a presence in 145 municipalities throughout Greece.

Through the pilot project being launched today with the new technology of the future, select users will be the first to enjoy fixed-line internet speeds up to 10 times faster than the current maximum commercially available, with very low latency as well.

"Our priority at COSMOTE is to always offer our customers the best connectivity experience. This is why we are preparing our networks to be able to cover future as well as current needs. Through our new pilot project, we are offering fixed-line internet speeds that are 10 times faster than those already available, via our Fiber to the Home (FTTH) infrastructure, which is by far the most extensive in Greece. We are investing intensively in creating a digital society where everyone can participate equally, creating the infrastructure of the coming decades," said OTE Group's Chief Technology & Operations Officer, Stefanos Theocharopoulos.

3 million FTTH lines by 2027

To implement its investment plan for upgrading the country - which exceeds €3 bn. - OTE Group is dynamically continuing the expansion of FTTH, with the target of bringing it to 3 mn. households and businesses by 2027. By implementing this hugely important project, the Group will cover approximately 2/3 of the country's lines with FTTH. This is the biggest investment in network infrastructure of the last decades in Greece. Today, over 1.331 mn. households and businesses throughout Greece have access to FTTH via COSMOTE Fiber. With the target of 1.8 mn. households and businesses by the end of 2024, OTE Group continues to expand FTTH into municipalities in the Prefectures of Attica, Viotia, Corfu, Rodopi, Corinth, Chalkidiki, Rethymno, Xanthi, the Dodecanese, Lasithi, Aitoloakarnania, Evia, Thessaloniki and Kavala. The plan includes investments in "Ultra-Fast Broadband Infrastructure," which will bring ultra-high internet speeds of up to 1Gbps to semi-urban and rural areas of Greece.
