17 April 2024 - QUEZON CITY. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Knowledge Exchange Series April 2024 Seminar facilitated meaningful discussions on Natural Capital Accounting (NCA), focusing on the PSA's mandates in the NCA context, current outputs, ongoing research on environmental-economic accounts, the key points of the Philippine Ecosystem and Natural Capital Accounting System (PENCAS) Act, and PSA's future strategies.

The fourth KES seminar this year featured the research "Making Nature Count Through Environmental - Economic Accounts: Delving Into The PENCAS Act" by Ms. Virginia M. Bathan, Ms. Faith Lea B. Cabrera-Aldeza, and Ms. Michelle Fatima T. Caranay from the PSA Environment and Natural Resources Account Division under the Macroeconomic Accounts Service.

Over 122 participants, consisting of PSA officials, personnel, and external stakeholders, joined the hybrid seminar at the Media Center in the PSA Headquarters or via video conferencing. Representatives from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, National Economic and Development Authority, and Philippine Institute for Development Studies actively participated in the discussions.

Conducted monthly, KES seminars aim to facilitate dynamic discussions encompassing PSA's research, new activities, products, and services. Although past seminars featured research topics on economic sector statistics, KES seminar discussions also aim to cover topics such as civil registration, the Philippine Identification System, the Community-Based Monitoring System, and other subjects aligned with the PSA's mandates.

Relatedly, PSA is organizing KES special seminars that will showcase various research by external stakeholders who have benefited from the services of the PSA Data Enclave Centers. This is part of the agency's ongoing efforts to enhance public awareness and use of the PSA's services on official statistics and data.

The KES is an initiative aligned with the PSA's commitment to fostering an institution that encourages continuous learning, strategic collaborations, and impactful innovations.
