Orange, CT- June 16, 2022 - The United Illuminating Company (UI), Southern Connecticut Gas (SCG) and Connecticut Natural Gas (CNG) -sponsors of Energize Connecticut-have received the 2022 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year Sustained Excellence Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy. This is the seventh time we have been recognized for these efforts and the fifth consecutive recognition for our continued leadership and commitment to promoting the ENERGY STAR program in Connecticut.

"For five years in a row, our efforts with industry partners in the EnergizeCT program and the leadership on our CLM team have proven to find more efficiencies in everyday energy use while making a positive impact on our environment. I'd like to thank them all for their commitment to finding efficiencies for our customers and reducing carbon emissions," said Frank Reynolds, President & CEO of UI, SCG and CNG.

The Sustained Excellence award is the highest honor bestowed by the ENERGY STAR program. Winners in this distinguished group have made a long-term commitment to fighting climate change, protecting public health through energy efficiency and are continuing to increase the adoption and implementation of energy efficiency measures. They are among the nation's leaders in driving value for the environment, the economy and the American people.

Each year, the ENERGY STAR program honors a group of businesses and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to protecting the environment through superior energy achievements. This work at our AVANGRID subsidiaries is through the ardent efforts of the Conservation and Load Management (CLM) team. They work with residential customers on Home Energy Solutions (HES) that offer free or reduced cost efficiency methods like weatherstripping and insulation. They also work with commercial customers to update HVAC systems, lighting systems, and other costs saving measures to create energy savings.

"AVANGRID's CLM team is honored to receive recognition from the Energy Star program for the fifth time in a row for the innovative and robust energy efficiency programs we implement in Connecticut," said Larry Rush, CLM Manager of Residential at AVANGRID. "These programs are so important to the residents of Connecticut helping them to reduce their energy consumption and helping them live more comfortably in their homes. The average customer we serve through our Home Energy Solutions Program saves an average of $200 annually when participating in the program."
