BCL partners with Mimi Village in latest water project

Access to clean water is something that many of us take for granted, but for the people of Mimi village in central Bougainville obtaining fresh water has been problematic and inconvenient for many years.

As a result, BCL identified Mimi as a community that would benefit from its water project support program. We are delighted that following the roll out of pipes and the installation of 15 taps along the pipe route, the project is now completed, and local people have ready access to safe, clean water for drinking, cooking, and washing.

Local Chief Tapakau says the project is a very welcome addition to the Mimi community and thanked BCL and its project team for their contribution. Community members of course were also instrumental in the project's roll out. They have willingly taken ownership of the infrastructure and for its maintenance to ensure it continues to fulfill a vital community need in the years ahead.

The Mimi project follows similar BCL-backed projects in Korkore and Bairuai villages.
