The Anti-Narcotics Directorate of the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science has foiled the trafficking of 87 KG of Hashish from Iran, and three suspects were arrested. The directorate also seized around 26,000 Captagon pills.
The General Directorate said that an investigation into received information led to identifying and arresting suspects and the confiscation of narcotics worth more than half a million dinars. In addition, multi-currency money that is suspected to be drug money was seized.
The probe affirmed that Iran was the source of the confiscated drug and a fugitive convicted in terrorist cases, resides in Iran and handles coordination between the arrestees and traffickers in Iran. The drug money is sent to the terrorist fugitive in Iran. Legal proceedings are being taken to refer the case to the Public Prosecution. It is noteworthy that Iran has been the primary source of drug smuggling to Bahrain over the past two decades.
