On Tuesday, February 27 at 6 p.m., the Toronto Police Service, in partnership with Tropicana Community Services, are hosting a Black History Month celebration and an award presentation at Tropicana Community Services, 1385 Huntingwood Drive, Scarborough.
The Honourable Jean Augustine and Retired Sergeant Terry James will receive the inaugural Terry James Trailblazer Award, followed by a screening of Steadfast - The Messenger and the Message.
Community members and dignitaries will join Deputy Chief Lauren Pogue at this Black History Month celebration.
Retired Sergeant Terry James served with the Toronto Police Service from 1980 to 2010. Sergeant James was a leader and a trailblazer in her work and her community. Throughout her career with the Service, Sergeant James advocated for Black History Month and the celebration from within.
