Dunmore, PA - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) invites the public to a public meeting and online plans display for the Route 1018 (Old Route 11) over Norfolk Southern Railroad Project in New Milford Township, Susquehanna County. The in-person public meeting will be held at the First United Methodist Church at 69 Pratt Street, New Milford, PA 18834 on May 22, 2024, at 6:30 p.m.

Route 1018 (Old Route 11) is a two-lane rural road that carries traffic over the Norfolk Southern Railroad. The bridge is considered a contributing element to the National Register of Historic Places eligible railroad it crosses. New Milford Borough is located approximately one mile south of the bridge.

The purpose of this project is to provide safe and efficient access over the active Norfolk Southern rail line with a structure that meets current design standards, carries current legal loads, and supports sustainable growth and development. Additionally, this project will address roadway deficiencies, provide guide rail to meet current guidelines and improve the intersection with Route 0011.

The project is currently in design and work is expected to occur during the 2026 and 2027 construction seasons. The existing bridge will remain open during the construction of the new bridge.

The digital version of the plans display will be available from April 22, 2024, to June 22, 2024. Online information, including detailed project information and comment form, can be found by visiting the following
