Last year, during the European Week for the Employment of People with Disabilities (SEEPH) 2024 in France, AUTO1 Group reaffirmed our commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace. Through a series of impactful initiatives, we engaged our teams, raised awareness about disability in the workplace, and celebrated the strength that diversity brings to our organization.
An Inspiring Talk with Paralympic Champion Tanguy De La Forest
One of the highlights of SEEPH 2024 was welcoming Tanguy De La Forest, a Paralympic shooting champion and flag bearer for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, to our French headquarters offices in Châtillon. Tanguy shared his incredible journey as a high-level athlete with a disability, recounting the challenges and lessons he has learned about resilience and performance.
His story resonated deeply with our teams, reminding us that diversity is a strength and that perseverance can lead to extraordinary achievements. The conference inspired our employees and sparked meaningful conversations about the importance of inclusion in the workplace. "Meeting Tanguy De La Forest was a powerful moment for our teams. At AUTO1 Group, we firmly believe that inclusion is a key driver for achieving our goals," shares Manutea Dupont, Vice President France of AUTO1 Group.
Learning Through Play: The Handipoursuite Game
As part of our ongoing efforts to raise awareness, we renewed our partnership with AKTISEA, an adapted company*, to bring the Handipoursuite game to our employees. Designed by Agefiph, this interactive and digital game challenges participants to answer questions about disability and workplace diversity while engaging in fun activities.
The Handipoursuite game is more than just a learning tool-it's a conversation starter. By encouraging dialogue about disability-related topics, our teams can better understand the challenges faced by people with disabilities and promote their integration into the workplace.
Integration Through Hands-on Experiences
In line with our commitment to inclusion, the French team participated in a national initiative that pairs people with disabilities with employees for a day of professional exploration. We welcomed a participant to our Autohero production center in Montataire, where they shadowed our mechanic and bodywork/paint Specialist teams.
This hands-on experience offered valuable insights into these roles while fostering collaboration and understanding between our teams and the participant. DuoDay is a testament to the power of inclusion in creating stronger, more connected workplaces.
Breaking Barriers with a French Sign Language (LSF) Workshop
Communication is at the heart of inclusion, so we organized a workshop on French Sign Language (LSF). Led by a consultant specializing in deafness and related challenges, the workshop introduced employees to the basics of LSF and provided insights into the obstacles faced by deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals. This interactive session not only equipped our teams with new skills but also deepened their understanding of diverse communication methods, reinforcing our commitment to creating an inclusive corporate culture.
"Inclusion is not just a social responsibility; it's an opportunity to grow together. These actions during SEEPH 2024 reflect our determination to change mindsets and create a workplace where everyone can thrive, regardless of their differences," concludes Manutea.
As we look back on SEEPH 2024, we are proud of the steps we've taken to promote inclusion and diversity. We remain committed to driving change, one initiative at a time, and building a future where everyone feels valued and empowered. Interested in joining our team?
