New York, NY - January 25, 2023 - Barnes & Noble announces historical tour de force The Snow Hare as their February National Book Club pick. The bookseller welcomes readers to a free live virtual event with author Paula Lichtarowicz. The author will answer questions from the audience and participate in an engaging roundtable conversation with Shannon DeVito, Senior Director of Books at Barnes & Noble, and Miwa Messer, Executive Producer of Poured Over, the B&N Podcast. Attendees must register via Eventbrite to access the live stream on Zoom.

"Paula Lichtarowicz has delivered a brilliant story of survival, with literary echoes of Anthony Doerr and Kristin Hannah," said Shannon DeVito, Senior Director of Books, Barnes & Noble. "The Snow Hare is a richly beautiful historical novel that expertly weaves together sadness and love, courage and loss that is epic in scope. It left me utterly moved. Paula tells the story of discovering hope in the face of the cruelest hardships, horror, and impossible choices. This is a book that is weighty, worthy, and I cannot wait to share it with our Book Club readers."

Lena's life unfolds against the backdrop of World War II, derailing her dreams of becoming a doctor and sending her spiraling into a new fate. Behind her quiet existence on a small farm in Wales lies a much darker past. Memories of the time spent within the walls of the frigid work camps of the Siberian tundra lie buried in the depths of her mind along with the most haunting and heartbreaking memory of all: falling in love.

The Barnes & Noble Book Club entices booklovers with a thoughtfully chosen newly published novel each month. The Barnes & Noble Exclusive Edition of The Snow Hare features a Q&A with the author and an insightful reading group guide. Leading up to the event, readers can share their thoughts and engage in conversation on social media using the hashtag #BNBookClub. During the livestream readers are encouraged to participate in the discussion and submit questions to be answered throughout.

"I'm thrilled that The Snow Hare is Barnes & Noble's February Book Club. Every story starts off as a tiny, lonely imagining and only truly comes alive when it reaches the hands of a reader," said author, Paula Lichtarowicz. "It's the stuff of dreams to have Lena's story helped into the world like this. Thank you, Barnes & Noble."
