Ninety-eight percent of Internet Service Providers stayed the same or moved down 0.2 Mbps in October due to bitrate encoding efficiencies on the Netflix ISP Speed Index, our monthly update on which ISPs provide the best prime time Netflix streaming experience.

Thirty-five countries and regions were in the top performance tier for October: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, United Kingdom, and the United States all registered an average speed of 3.2 Mbps.

Three ISPs in Pakistan increased 0.2 Mbps since September's results. CyberInternet and Optix both rose from 2.6 to 2.8 Mbps, and KK Networks rose from 1.8 to 2.0 Mbps. Kuwait saw Zajil Telecom climb from 2.0 to 2.4 Mbps and Qualitynet ascend from 2.6 to 2.8 Mbps. Venezuela also saw two ISPs increase with Aba rising from 1.2 to 1.4 Mbps and inter moving from 2.0 to 2.2 Mbps. Multicable Honduras in Honduras went up 0.2 Mbps, rising from 2.4 to 2.6 Mbps. There were no significant ISP drops for October.

Pakistan was the only country to register an overall gain in speed this month, with its average speed climbing from 2.4 to 2.6 Mbps. In New Zealand, My Republic traffic is now combined into 2degrees.

The Netflix ISP Speed Index is a measure of prime time Netflix performance on a particular ISP and not a measure of overall performance for other services or data that may travel across the specific ISP network. Faster Netflix performance generally means better picture quality, quicker start times and fewer interruptions. We also created a separate tool to check your current download performance: Visit https://FAST.com on any internet browser or download the FAST Speed Test iOSor Androidapp.
