Defence Minister’s meeting with the Ambassador of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to Bucharest

Minister of National Defence, Angel Tîlvăr, received the visit of the Ambassador of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to Bucharest, Elisabeth Cardoso, on Monday, 20 March.

The meeting of the two officials took place in the context of the deployment of the first Luxembourger contingent within the NATO Battle Group in Romania, coordinated by France.

The meeting agenda included topics referring to cooperation within the North-Atlantic Alliance and the security situation from the Black Sea region in the context of Russia's war led against Ukraine. In this context, the officials emphasized the importance of continuing providing support to the vulnerable partners from the region, especially to the Republic of Moldova, considering the current security environment.

The Romanian defence minister appreciated Grand Duchy's contribution to the consolidation of the Allied posture on the Eastern flank and in the Black Sea region, this being a proof of the Allied solidarity.

The Ambassador of Luxembourg pointed out his country's commitment and mentioned that this was the biggest contingent ever deployed outside Luxembourg's borders.
