Lane Closures on SR 9 in Roswell, Alpharetta for Resurfacing this Weekend

Contractors for the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) will continue work on a resurfacing project on State Route 9 (SR 9)/S. Atlanta Street/Mabry Highway/Alpharetta Street/Alpharetta Highway this weekend, in the cities of Roswell and Alpharetta, in Fulton County. The project limits are from just north of the Chattahoochee River Bridge to Upper Hembree Road in Fulton County. Weather and on-site conditions permitting, overnight lane closures will be installed on SR 9 from the Chattahoochee River Bridge to Upper Hembree Road beginning 8 p.m. on Friday, April 26 until 5 a.m. on Saturday. These work hours allow crews to work safely with minimal traffic flow and avoid peek commuter traffic delays. Roadway signs and message boards will alert drivers of the closures in advance so that alternate routes and/or extra travel time can be planned.

This resurfacing project will produce a smoother ride for drivers while also improving the condition of the deteriorating roadway. The final phase is the reapplication of lane striping and replacement of manholes.

This $5.1 million project is scheduled for completion in late fall 2024.

Pedestrians and motorists will be made aware of the closures by on-site signage, arrow, message boards, traffic cones and police officers, as needed in the area. Motorists are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through the work zone during the project work hours. Before heading out, get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions. Call 511, visit 511ga.org, or download the Georgia 511 app.
