Nine BMI Musical Works Inducted into National Recording Registry

It was another history-making moment today, as the Library of Congress listed 25 recordings deemed worthy of prestigious induction and perpetual preservation into the National Recording Registry. These recordings, nine of which were written by BMI songwriters and composers, were selected for their cultural, historical, or aesthetic significance in the nation's sound heritage. BMI is tremendously proud to count these works among our repertoire.

"The Library of Congress is proud to preserve the sounds of American history and our diverse culture through the National Recording Registry," said Librarian of Congress Carla Haden. "We have selected audio treasures worthy of preservation with our partners this year, including a wide range of music from the past 100 years, as well as comedy. We were thrilled to receive a record number of public nominations, and we welcome the public's input on what we should preserve next."

The latest class of inductees now brings the total number of titles in the registry to 650. Below is the list of BMI singles and albums that were added to the National Recording Registry today.
