Deputy Minister of National Defence Ioannis Kefalogiannis attends Celebration Ceremony for the 75th Anniversary since NATO's establishment

On Monday 08 April 2024, the Deputy Minister of National Defence, Mr. Ioannis Kefalogiannis, visited the Joint Force Command Naples in Italy.

During his visit, Mr. Kefalogiannis met with the Commander of JFC Naples,Admiral Stuart B. Munsch, and discussed the modern security challenges in the southern flank of the Alliance, whereas the decisive role of Greece as a pillar of stability and peace in the broader region of the Eastern Mediterranean was highlighted.

The Deputy Minister of National Defence was briefed on the operational framework and current activities of the Headquarters and met with the Hellenic military delegation, congratulating them for their work defending Hellenic and Allied interests.

Finally, he attended the Celebration Ceremony for the 75thAnniversary since NATO's establishment, held at San Carlo Theatre, in the presence of distinguished local officials and senior officials of the Alliance.

In the context of the ceremony, the Deputy Minister of National Defence made the following statement:

"We are here today, at the historic city of Naples, to celebrate the 75thanniversary since NATO's establishment. NATO is first of all an Alliance of values, with fundamental principles for collective defence and deterrence. In a constantly changing international environment, full of emerging threats and security dilemmas, NATO is a guarantor of security with great contribution in maintaining world security and peace."
