Helen Coleman Named 2024 'Citizen of the Year'

Richton Park would proudly like to introduce you to the 2024 Citizen of the Year, Helen Coleman! Congratulations!

The Citizen of the Year Award recognizes a Richton Park resident who, through their personal involvement, leadership abilities, and selfless giving of their time and talent over the previous 12 months, has positively affected the community and the lives of its citizens. This annual award, carefully chosen, honors those who's contributions to Richton Park have been recent and in the past, resulting in a substantial benefit to the community, and a steady, reliable, long-term history of service to the Village of Richton Park.

Ms. Helen Coleman has been a positive influence in the lives of her neighbors and the entire Richton Park community as a whole. Her consistent dedication and enthusiasm sends lasting effects to every area of our Community. As a resident of 20 years, Helen is a standout "Richton Park Star" in the field of community engagement. She volunteers in endless capacities, in addition to supporting, attending, and participating in countless Richton Park events and programs.

Helen is currently a highly respected 7-year member of our Human Relations Commission where she continues her passion of community building, bringing not only new ideas to benefit residents, but also an outstanding work ethic. She also has been an avid member of her Greenfield Homeowners Association for several years, serving on the Welcome, Engagement, and Beautification sub-committees.

Outside of Richton Park, Helen also gives 150%, working many years in early childhood education as a 3rd Grade Teacher with Parker Community Academy. She is a 22-year member of Family Christian Center of Tinley Park, where she now serves as a Greeter - a ministry she loves, setting the tone for attendees entering the church before praise and workshop service.

This is a woman of integrity, a community leader, and a truly caring individual. It is an honor to acknowledge Helen's 's accomplishments over the years and to acknowledge her as our 2024 Citizen of the Year!
