SGMC Health Cuts Ribbon on Family Medicine Location

SGMC Health and the Valdosta-Lowndes County Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for a new Family Medicine office location on Tuesday. SGMC Family Medicine, the office of Richard Rickman, MD, is now located at 2720 N. Oak St.

Community and health system leadership gathered to celebrate Dr. Rickman and his team for their significant contribution to the health of the community. Dr. Rickman has served the Valdosta area for more than 20 years, joining the SGMC Health family in 2021. His journey in medicine began after his residency when he proudly served as Captain and Family Practitioner for the 347th Medical Group at Moody Air Force Base.

In addition to his thriving practice in Valdosta, he also oversees a location in Lake Park.

According to Vice President of Physician Network Brenda Alexander, "We are thrilled to celebrate the new location, but even more excited for the opportunity to acknowledge Dr. Rickman and his long-standing commitment to the health and well-being of our community. We look forward to the positive impact his practice will continue to make."

One patient remarked, "Dr. Rickman is well-established and his demeanor is exceptional. He has compassion for his patients and takes time to get to know them. To me, that is what a good doctor does."
