WASHINGTON, D.C. - Joint Staff Spokesperson Navy Capt. Jereal Dorsey provided the following readout:

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. CQ Brown, Jr., spoke with Saudi Arabia Chief of General Staff Gen. Fayyad Al-Ruwaili today by phone.

The leaders discussed the current security environment in the Middle East, and Gen. Brown reiterated U.S. desire to work with international allies and partners in deescalating current regional tensions.

The United States and Saudi Arabia share a longstanding partnership and are committed to peace and security in the Middle East region.
