Rude Mechanicals to perform Greek tragedy beginning March 29

SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV - Shepherd University's Rude Mechanicals Medieval and Renaissance Players will be performing "Lysistrata" by Aristophanes, an ancient Greek anti-war tragedy, this spring in Reynolds Hall, 109 N. King St., Shepherdstown, West Virginia. The tragedy tells the story of a woman's extraordinary strategy to bring an end to the Peloponnesian War.  

In this bawdy comedy, the women of Athens and Sparta come up with an ingenious plan to stop their men from fighting each other in a war that has lasted for decades.

The play will take place on March 29 and 30 and April 3, 4, 5, and 6 at 7:30 p.m.; and March 31 and April 7 at 3 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door and are $5 for the public, free for Shepherd employees and students with a valid Rambler ID, and $2 for non-Shepherd students. Attendees must be 18 or older.
