May 1 Law Day – “Voices of Democracy”

After his experiences in World War II, President Dwight D. Eisenhower established Law Day in 1958 to celebrate the principle of the rule of law in a free society. Programs are conducted around the country this month to share the importance of this principle and the importance of the judiciary in our system of government.

Learn about how the rule of law protects some of our daily practices:

"Voices of Democracy" is the American Bar Association theme for 2024, and the U.S. Courts has created educational resources that celebrate this theme by highlighting the "voice" of Thurgood Marshall for the 70th anniversary of the decision in Brown v. Board of Education.
