Exchange your old mobile phone for HNL tickets

On the occasion of Earth Day, as part of its 'Call you don't want to miss' platform, Hrvatski Telekom will enable the exchange of old mobile phones for HNL match tickets. It is the first activity of this kind where responsible disposal of mobile phones and environmental protection takes football fans to a match.

The first 22 people who bring at least one mobile phone for disposal to the T-Center in Split, Ulica kralja Tomislava 4, and in Pula, Ulica Flanatička 6 will get two tickets each for the matches Istra 1961-Dinamo and Hajduk-Varaždin, played on Earth Day, April 22.

Hrvatski Telekom will thus give football fans a total of 88 tickets, which is a number symbolically associated with Earth Day.

Given that up to 80 percent of the material from mobile phones can be recycled, a troubling fact is that every tenth citizen of Croatia fails to properly dispose of mobile phones they do not use but instead throws them in regular waste, causing great environmental damage.

"The idea of the 'Call you don't want to miss' is to raise awareness of environmental issues that are of great importance for Croatia, our everyday life, and the future. That's where the involvement of each of us is necessary. With this activity, which for the first time enables an old mobile phone to be used as a "means of payment", we have linked the currently most watched sports content in Croatia with environmental protection, about which it would be desirable if we were equally involved and passionate. Disposing of mobile phones for HNL match tickets is just one of the activities we have planned as part of the 'Call you don't want to miss'. This is not only HT's platform. We hope to encourage the public to get involved and respond to the Call that no one wants to miss", said Igor Vukasović, Director of Corporate Communications at Hrvatski Telekom.

Mobile phones can be brought to the two T-Centers from Friday, April 21, at noon, and the campaign to exchange cell phones for going to these two matches will last until the "stock" of tickets runs out.

The just-presented Hrvatski Telekom survey showed that in Croatia, we keep around 5 million unused mobile phones in drawers. If they were lined up next to each other, they would cover a distance of 700 kilometers, which is the road distance between Vukovar-Split, Pula-Dubrovnik, or Zagreb-Prague.

Anyone, not only Hrvatski Telekom users, can bring small electronic equipment to any T-Center in Croatia at any time: mobile phones, fixed phones, tablets, laptops, routers, TV decoders, chargers, cables, electronic wristbands, headphones..., and HT will ensure that everything is disposed of responsibly and properly. Let's be responsible and respond to the Call that we must not miss.
