Tell Governor Hochul & DEC to Deny Air Permits for “Iroquois Pipeline Compressors”

Tell Governor Hochul & DEC to Deny Air Permits for "Iroquois Pipeline Compressors"

Climate and Energy Justice, Environmental Justice, News

The "IroquoisPipeline Company" wants to drastically increase the amount of gas they push through their 37-year-old, 414-mile fossil gas pipeline running from the Canadian border to Long Island and NYC. They are seeking a permit from the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) to double the size of four toxic and noisy gas compressor stations that have long polluted disadvantaged, working-class communities in Dover and Athens, NY.

Let us be clear:

  • The compressor stations are notorious air polluters.
  • The community is already overburdened by the stations.
  • The proposed expanded pipeline is unsafe and threatens public safety.

Any expansion to the pipeline is unnecessary and harmful to New Yorkers' health and the environment. We must tell the State that enough is enough and demand a stop to fossil fuel expansion NOW.

HOW YOU CAN HELP: The deadline for the public to comment on the DPS statement is April 29, 2024. Submit your own comment today to say that New Yorkers don't want or need more pipeline infrastructure to continue our reliance on dirty fossil fuels - especially not at the cost of vulnerable communities' health and well-being.

Join NYLPI and send your comment today to tell Governor Hochul and the Department of Environmental Conservation to deny air permits for "IroquoisPipeline Compressors" and to extend the deadline for public comment.
