Traffic Advisory: Sidewalk repairs in Chinatown and Downtown

HONOLULU - On Monday, February 13, 2023, the City and County of Honolulu, Department of Facility Maintenance (DFM), will begin sidewalk repairs in the Chinatown/Downtown areas. Work will be conducted from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding all observed state holidays. The project is estimated to be completed by August 31, 2023, weather and conditions permitting.

Motorists are advised to observe and obey all traffic controls, posted signs, special duty police officers, and proceed with caution through the construction area. On-street parking will be prohibited during working hours and vehicles illegally parked, where No Parking signs are posted, will be towed at the owner's expense. Drivers should anticipate delays and allow for extra travel time due to detours, lane, and road closures.

DFM's consultant, Construction Management & Engineering (CM&E), LLC will manage and coordinate the project including local traffic, access to businesses, deliveries, trash collection, and emergency services. For any questions or concerns about the project, please call CM&E at (808) 842-0303.
