Media Advisory: Mayors Mental Health Initiative Receives Funding for Local Non-Profits

What: Event to celebrate The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative awarding $250,000 to various mental health investments identified by the San Mateo County Mayors Mental Health Initiative
When: Wednesday, August 23 from 10 am - 11 am
Where: CZI Community Space, 801 Jefferson Avenue, Redwood City
Why: The San Mateo County Mayors Mental Health Initiative will officially announce a $250,000 investment by the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, as advised fund of Silicon Valley Community Foundation to support increased accessed to mental health resources across the County. The investment will support three non-profits: Star Vista, Daly City Youth Health Center, and the Una Vida program through OneLife Counseling. Funds will improve staff recruitment and retention, expand access to free and reduced rate services, deliver services in Spanish, and allow for "mental health days" for the mental health workers to prevent burnout. The funds will support improved access to services for thousands of San Mateo County residents.

At this time, no walk-in guests or visitors are allowed in the Community Space. Additionally, all attendees ages 12+ must be fully vaccinated and will be asked to complete a COVID-19 health screening as part of their registration and check-in process. For medical and religious accommodations and children under 12, negative COVID-19 PCR test results taken within 72 hours of the event's start are accepted. Masks are required in the Community Space.
