Participation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia in a round-table discussion in Stockholm

On November 11, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan, participated in a round-table discussion at the Stockholm Centre for Eastern European Studies. The director of the center, Fredrik Löjdquist welcomed Minister Mirzoyan and moderated the discussion attended by experts and representatives of civil society.

In his introductory remarks, Ararat Mirzoyan outlined the key priorities of the foreign policy of the Republic of Armenia, emphasizing the ongoing efforts to strengthen the country's independence, sovereignty and resilience. In this context, the discussion touched upon the normalization of relations with neighboring countries, the development of new partnerships, and the particularities and perspectives of cooperation with countries and organizations with wider geography.

The development of the Armenia-Sweden agenda was touched upon both in terms of bilateral political dialogue and the deepening of partnership with the European Union. In the context of cooperation between Armenia and the EU, the major achievements as well as the expectations were emphasized in line with the European aspirations of the people of Armenia and the progress of democratic reforms.

In his speech and in the subsequent question-and-answer session, Minister Mirzoyan touched upon in detail the current dynamics in the South Caucasus, including the security situation. Ararat Mirzoyan presented the latest developments in the process of normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, highlighting efforts towards signing the peace treaty, prospects for establishing lasting peace, and the existing challenges along this way.

In the context of regional stability and economic development, the issues of unblocking transport and economic infrastructures were also touched upon, along with the "Crossroads of Peace" project, which was highlighted as a potentially important component of the global infrastructure network.

At the end of the meeting, the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Armenia answered other questions of the attendees.
