His Royal Highness, the Duke of Gloucester, has officially opened the University of Worcester's Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Building.

The building is a state-of-the-art centre of learning for future generations of doctors, nurses, paramedics and more.

The Duke, who is the Chancellor of the University of Worcester, joined staff, students and local dignitaries as he was shown around the new facility and given demonstrations by students of various medical disciplines.

His Royal Highness unveiled a plaque and delivered a speech in which he praised the work of university staff in bringing the facility to the city of Worcester.

Named after the first woman to qualify as a physician and surgeon in the UK, the building is part of the University's Severn Campus for Health, Wellbeing, and Inclusive Sport, which has seen the University regenerate a largely derelict riverside industrial estate.
